Consumption took the life blood from Simon Whipple on May 6, 1841. Death by tuberculosis was believed to begin a quest for eternal sustenance, derived from those who remained among the living. The two lines from his epitaph give us a glimpse of New England 19th century Vampire Hysteria in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. This casting has two hooks embedded on the back for hanging.
